Windsor CT Real Estate
Windsor is Connecticut's oldest town and was established in 1633. Windsor was originally a major trading post along the Connecticut River and later became a major grower of tobacco used in the world's finest cigars due to the very nutrient rich soils and ideal climate in the summer. Although there are some tobacco farms still run by the Hastings and Thrall families, the major industry in town are corporations located in the Day Hill section of town including Travelers, ABB, Konica, and Aetna.
The town is located just north of Hartford along the Connecticut River where it is joined by the Farmington River. Windsor also has I-91 running through it which allows quick highway access to nearly everywhere in the New England. In the next town above Windsor is where Bradley International Airport is located. Obviously, Windsor is a very good choice for those that travel.
The center of Windsor also has a large town green where many events are held including summer concerts, arts and crafts fairs, and the popular Shad Derby.
